Guy Trinquet
Guy Trinquet is a Paris-born, Melbourne-based contemporary artist. Guy’s experimental style has evolved from semi-abstract landscapes to abstract paintings by aerial landscapes of places real and fantasy inspired by tales of explorers he had heard as a child, locations he has traveled to and adventures have captured his imagination . A self-taught artist, he has been selected as a finalist in multiple art prizes, including the prestigious Glover Prize in 2021 and 2022.
Inspiration for his latest abstract works is drawn from the natural environment, including ancient subterranean caves, the ocean’s hypnotic rhythms, lush forests, rugged mountains and canyons and vast sandy deserts. By mixing and blending paint and pigment for unique colours, he meticulously applies layer after layer of paint with different types of medium to create artworks with a 3D quality. Some of his paintings incorporate 24k gold leaf.
Guy enjoys the process of bringing his paintings to life, from stretching his own canvases to creating artworks he truly connects with and to framing his own art. His work can be found in private collections in Australia, the US, the UK, France, Malaysia and Singapore.
