Guy Trinquet

Born in Paris and now based in Melbourne, I am a self-taught artist who paints both intuitively and with deliberate planning, working directly onto canvas without preliminary sketches. I often begin with a loose idea, letting brushstrokes, textures, and colour guide the next step, while also making considered choices that shape the composition and mood.

My work is inspired by personal experiences, the landscapes I’ve encountered, and the places I imagine — from the ever-changing skies witnessed while sailing across the Atlantic, to the diverse terrains of Europe and Australia. These journeys inform the colours, textures, and atmosphere of each painting, making every landscape a reflection of both memory and imagination.

Over the years, my work has been recognised in several art competitions, including as a finalist in the prestigious Glover Prize twice.

My paintings are held in private collections internationally in Australia, Asia, Europe and the USA.
